Video Surveillance Shows Apparent Package Theft In Lincoln Park
The Sheffield Neighborhood Association is warning residents about package thefts.

CHICAGO, IL — The Sheffield Neighborhood Association has posted a warning on its website about packages being stolen from the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Surveillance video has been posted on YouTube of an alleged theft in the area. It shows a man opening a bag in an apparent attempt to take packages left on a front porch.
"We have received several reports from Sheffield neighbors of packages being stolen from their front porches," the Sheffield Neighborhood Association posted on its website.

The association included a link with recommendations on how to avoid package theft. According to the website, more than 4,000 Americans file complaints against shipping companies each year. (For more local news, subscribe to free email news alerts and a daily newsletter for your hometown Patch.)
Recommendations include using Amazon lockers, UPS stores, lockers in convenience stores, or purchasing a digital locker. Other safeguards listed include having packages delivered to your workplace, and installing a security camera at your front door.
