Girl Pulled From Lake Michigan On North Side Dies
The girl was part of a group at Loyola Beach Friday night.

CHICAGO, IL — A 13-year-old girl taken to the hospital in critical condition after being pulled from Lake Michigan Friday night has died, The Chicago Tribune reports.
The girl was identified as Darinanne Torres, 13, of the 7400 block of North Damen Avenue, according to the Tribune. The paper reported that the girl was caught in a rip current along with another. The second girl was in good condition, authorities said.
Fire department divers had to pull a total of five out of the water at Loyola Beach, according to officials.

Three boys went into the water and were pulled out immediately, police said. One of the girls was pulled out by a bystander and police officers soon after, officials said. She was taken to St. Francis in good condition, authorities said. The second girl was father south along the beach and was taken to shore around 8:45 p.m., per the Tribune. Authorities first began getting calls about people in the water at 7:35 p.m.
In a tweet, the fire department said the water in the area was "very rough," and divers were conducting an "aggressive search."
