Bistro Campagne hosts wine dinners throughout the year to introduce wines and dishes not often on the menu to those interested in exploring a specific region, wine or aspect of dining. The wine dinner for October focuses on the Northern Rhone area of France. Northern Rhone produces some of the most exciting wines in France, and is the home for the mighty Syrah and the exotic Viognier. While not as popular and often times more expensive than the very stylistically different Southern Rhone, the wines of Northern Rhone can be extraordinarily complex and very food friendly. Bistro Campagne will be featuring the wines of two micro-winemakers, Pierre Gaillard, and his daughter, Jeanne Gaillard. The restaurant has selected a beautifully rounded and nutty Marsanne, an exotic honey and stone fruit driven Viognier, two Syrahs that express the brighter, peppery side of the wine that is typical of the North, and their decadent Banyuls Rouge.

ABOUT BISTRO CAMPAGNE
Bistro Campagne, located in Lincoln Square, is a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant in the tradition of a true countryside French bistro. Late restaurant founder, Michael Altenberg, one of the earliest advocates of the farm to table movement, created a restaurant that, since 2002, provides delicious, seasonal options pleasing to the palate while remaining mindful of the origins of each item used to create the distinctive dishes. Chef Adam Dittmer continues Altenberg’s legacy by offering an ever-changing menu of classic bistro fare that is based on the best and freshest ingredients available. Dittmer’s commitment to organic agriculture leads him to seek products from local organic farmers throughout the Midwest and from organic farms on the west coast throughout the winter. Bistro Campagne is committed to the use of organic food products and strongly supports the sustainable, low impact agriculture movement.
