Chicago Police to Raise Funds for Fallen Dallas Officers
Victims of last week's attack are "heroes." "This is a tragedy for our whole country," Superintendent Eddie Johnson writes.

Chicago, IL - The Chicago Police Department has created a support fund that will benefit the families of the five Dallas police officers who lost their lives last week in the deadliest terrorist attack on law enforcement in America since 9/11.
The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, FOP Lodge 7, the Police Chaplains Ministry, Chicago Patrolmen’s FCU, 100 Club of Chicago, the Brotherhood for the Fallen and the CPD Sergeants and Lieutenants and Captains Associations collaborated to raise funds for the families of Dallas police officers Patrick Zamarripa, Michael Krol, Michael Smith, Lorne Ahrens and Dallas Area Rapid Transit police officer Brent Thompson, according to a police news release this week.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to our colleagues in Dallas," said Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. "The unspeakable loss of those brave officers is not just a tragedy for Dallas, but a tragedy for our entire country. They are heroes and we will never forget their legacy of service to their city and to our profession."
