According to ABC 7, several people who live in the building said they believe the fire was set by a resident who was being evicted. The neighbors said police had been called to the apartment building several times over the past week, and the building's landlord confirmed he had been trying to evict a tenant for months, ABC 7 reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
