Police said bodies were discovered Monday after the children's nanny was unable to get into the home.

WEST ROGERS PARK, IL — Area North Detectives are investigating after Chicago police said a West Rogers Park man fatally shot his twin son and daughter before turning the gun on himself Monday morning in the 6200 block of North Richmond Street. Police said the bodies of a boy and girl, both 10 years old, were found with gunshot wounds to the back of the head around 11 a.m.

The body of the victims' 45-year-old father was found in the hallway of the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face, police said.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the landlord found the bodies after a nanny was unable to enter the home, police said, adding the nanny called the children's mother, who was separated from the 45-year-old man, and she told the landlord to enter.
