Floating Water Park Proposed At Montrose Beach

The large floating park would include slides, trampolines, jumps and athletic challenges.

CHICAGO, IL — Ald. James Cappleman has announced that a floating water park has been proposed for Montrose Beach. He noted that the proposal is "very preliminary," and said that the vendor is also considering other locations. The large floating sports park would include plenty of bouncing obstacles, diving platforms, trampolines, slides and balancing challenges.

The park would be anchored to the bottom of the lake, and all participants would be required to wear life jackets, according to proposal documents.

The structure, created by the company Wibit Sports, would be located inside the boat buoys so park-goers would be safe from boats.

"The project would require permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Corps is currently accepting public comments about the proposal," Cappleman said in a letter to constituents.

The alderman notified the public that comments and concerns about the proposed park will be accepted until Tuesday, June 5.
