Kanela Breakfast Club Opens in Andersonville
The breakfast mini-chain has expanded to Chicago's far Northside.

Kanela Breakfast Club, located at 5413 N. Clark St., opened on Thursday, May 5 in Andersonville with a ribbon cutting with Kanela owners Chris Lardakis and Alexi Giannoulias (former Illinois State Treasurer) along with Alderman Harry Osterman of the 48th ward.
Kanela is a breakfast, lunch and contemporary brunch concept that features a sweet and savory menu created by Executive Chef Don Penza (Municipal Bar + Dining Co., Frontier). This is the fifth Kanela to open in Chicago with previous locations in Lakeview, Old Town, Wicker Park and Streeterville.
Serving the finest and freshest ingredients available, Kanela will be open daily and will have coffee and lattes available to go. New to Kanela is a partnership with local coffee roaster Bow Truss Coffee. Guests can enjoy the same café menu now made with Bow Truss Coffee beans featuring drinks like lattes, cold brew, Greek frappe, French press, cortado and macchiato. Furthermore, starting in early summer, Bow Truss will introduce a signature "Kanela Blend" at all locations.

The Andersonville restaurant mimics the look and feel of the other Kanela locations and is warm and cozy with deep earth tones and dark wood accents. Vintage chandeliers, brown leather banquettes and red oak tables give the restaurant a modish charm. The space also has diner-style counter seating surrounded by white subway tiles with walnut cladding covering the walls. There is seating for approximately 100. Pay-for street parking will be available. All Kanela locations features free Wi-Fi, making it the perfect spot to dine while working.
Created by Executive Chef Don Penza, guests will enjoy a similar menu to that of the Lakeview, Old Town, Wicker Park and Streeterville locations featuring seasonal brunch favorites and Greek specialties made from scratch in-house. New spring and summer menu items include Baked French Toast, Corned Beef Hash, Chilaquiles, Reuben Sandwich, a BBQ Chicken Salad and more.
