A letter to Illinois taxpayers: This economic turnaround isn't going to be fun
With the state's enormous pension debt and $9 billion budget deficit, getting Illinois' finances back on track will be hard for everyone.

Dear Illinois taxpayers,
Brace yourselves. The recent reports of Illinois’ fiscal issues might not have been exaggerated after all.
Civic Federation President Laurence Msall has these words of warning: “Everybody in Illinois should be preparing for some really tough times. Local governments in particular should be on alert they’re going to be facing enormous pressure.”
