"In My Shoes" Art Exhibit Shows Pressures Teens Face Today
Nonprofit Creates Traveling Art Exhibit to Help Parents Understand Pressures Faced By Teens October 20-21 at the James R. Thompson Center

This traveling art exhibit was created to help parents understand teenagers’ points of view about the pressures in their lives and how they deal with the potential to use substances, especially in today’s confusing environment. Developed by teen patients at Rosecrance’s adolescent campus in Rockford, IL, this exhibit displays shoes that teens in recovery have painted and decorated to tell their stories. From shoe selection to showcase, the process of creating shoe art is a meaningful experience in that each shoe is unique and tells a teen’s story about addiction, recovery, and most important, their hopes and dreams for the future.
