Chicago Financial Advisor John Francis Baker Appointed Growth and Development Director

As Northwestern Mutual – Chicago continues to build new client relationships and grow into new markets; it is adding to its leadership team.

John Francis Baker, CLU®, CFP®, a Financial Advisor, has been named Growth and Development Director with the Chicago-based financial planning office of Northwestern Mutual.

“The demand for financial security has never been greater, and our growth is providing us with opportunities to develop the next generation of financial representatives and leaders,” said Corey D. McQuade, Managing Partner. “Our goal is to provide financial representatives a wide variety of development opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.”

As a Growth and Development Director, John takes on a leadership role attracting, selecting, developing and retaining a team of financial representatives. Through coaching and mentoring John will work with his team members to define a career path best for them. At the same time, he will continue to build relationships with his clients, helping them realize their most important financial goals.

Baker joined the network office as a Financial Representative in 2008. A strong believer in continuing education, he studied for and achieved the Certified Life Underwriter® designation from The American College of Financial Services and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.

With a focus on providing clients with a comprehensive financial plan, he has earned the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Quality Award (2012-2015) as well as numerous awards from Northwestern Mutual for helping clients achieve financial security.

In 2010 he was invited to join the firm’s Leadership through Education and Development Program. His passion to share the career with others led him to be named a Field Director in 2014 and a Growth and Development Director in 2016.

His commitment to community is shown through his volunteer efforts with the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund in Chicago and serving as a member of the junior board of Chicago Jesuit Academy. He also actively supports Northwestern Mutual-Chicago’s philanthropic program to increase awareness and funds for research of childhood cancers and provide support to families impacted by the disease.

A native of River Forest, Baker received a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from The University of Notre Dame. He resides in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood with his wife, Julie, and daughter, Maura.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and CFP® (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
