Police Warn Of Catalytic Converter Thefts On North Side

Thieves are stealing the converters from vehicles in Lincoln Square, Lake View, North Center and Ravenswood, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have issued a community alert to North Side residents warning of catalytic converter thefts. The most recent string of thefts happened between April 9 and May 1, police said. Suspects are targeting vehicles parked on residential streets during overnight hours, police said.

Police said the thefts happened in the following locations:

  • 1000 block of West Byron on April 9 from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
  • 1900 block of West Waveland between April 18 and April 20
  • 1700 block of West Cornelia on April 21 from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m.
  • 3400 block of North Wolcott between April 24 and April 27
  • 1500 block of West Wilson between April 27 and April 28
  • 4700 block of North Leavitt on May 1 from 2:45 a.m. and 3 a.m.
