Police Warning Of String Of Car Thefts In Albany Park

Police are warning North Side residents to be vigilant after more than ten vehicles have been stolen over the past month in Albany Park.

CHICAGO, IL — Car thefts have been plaguing the city's Albany Park neighborhood, according to a police community alert. Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 8, at least ten vehicles were stolen, police said. In seven of the thefts, the cars were legally parked when they were stolen, according to the alert.

In three of the thefts, the victims left the vehicle running with the keys in the ignition, police said.

  • Nov. 1 in the 3800 Block of West Leland Avenue from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Nov. 20 in the 3500 Block of West Lawrence Avenue at 4:42 p.m.
  • Nov. 21 in the 4500 Block of North Bernard Street at 1:00 a.m.
  • Nov. 21 in the 4100 Block of North Hamlin Avenue from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 24 in the 4700 Block of North St Louis Avenue from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Nov. 29 in the 4600 Block of North Hamlin Avenue from 11:45 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Nov. 30
  • Nov. 30 in the 4600 Block of North Avers Avenue at 12:10 p.m.
  • Dec. 1 in the 4200 Block of North Bernard Street from 5:00 p.m. 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 2
  • Dec. 4 in the 3500 Block of West Lawrence Avenue at 7:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 8 in the 4200 Block of North St Louis Avenue from 6:55 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
