Power Outage Hits More Than 600 Homes In Lincoln Square

Streetlights were also affected, Ald. Pat O'Connor warned.

CHICAGO — A power outage hit many North Side residents around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, ComEd announced. The 40th Ward office said around 682 residents were without power.

The outage happened in the area bounded by Western to Ravenswood, Ainslie to Bryn Mawr, Ald. Patrick O'Connor said in an alert to residents. He said streetlights in the area were also affected, and advised drivers to take alternate routes.

ComEd was on the scene and estimated restoration to be complete by 12:30 p.m., however according to the company's website, almost 100 people were still without power by 1 p.m. ComEd predicted most of the remaining residents would have power restored by 3 p.m., and five homes near Damen and Bowmanville Avenues would have their power restored by 6 p.m.

ComEd's website listed an "equipment problem" as well as "damaged power lines" as the probable causes of the outage.
