What’s the best way to establish good sleeping patterns in infants that can benefit both babies and mom and dad?
On Thursday, May 15, approximately 20 new and expectant parents attended an event at Pickles Playroom in Lincoln Square about practical and convenient parenting strategies to promote healthy habits for newborns.
Led by Dr. Andy Sagan, a pediatrician and medical director of Swedish Covenant Medical Group Pediatrics, the seminar covered everything from swaddling to use of familiar songs to lull babies to sleep. Other topics discussed included pacifier use and the importance of consistency and pattern-building at an early age.

“Babies are able to recognize patterns and routines quite early, so parents who are motivated to train their babies to sleep independently can often accomplish this before six months of age,” says Dr. Sagan. “Parents who organize their baby’s daily routines are likely to have infants who behave in an organized manner, which typically results in “good eaters and good sleepers” during the latter half of the first year, and beyond.”
Don’t miss it!
