As the March 31st Affordable Care Act deadline rapidly approaches, Swedish Covenant Hospital is still busy trying to get as many north siders enrolled in coverage as possible. This past Saturday, we hosted a large enrollment event with the nonprofit group Get Covered America, where 95 uninsured families and individuals spoke with a team of health care navigators.
While the turnout was impressive, there’s still a lot of work to get done. Our zip code still has one of the largest disparities in health insurance across the city. And most of these uninsured are still unaware of key provisions in the ACA that make health coverage affordable – or even free – by providing incentives like tax subsidies to those who qualify.
It’s not too late to get help finding a plan. Swedish Covenant Hospital has a staff of 20 Certified Application Counselors – speaking 10 languages – that can answer any questions you have or even help you walk through the process.
