Surveillance Video Shows Apparent Package Theft On North Side
A homeowner in the Bowmanville neighborhood gave the 40th Ward Office a security video, and the suspect is now in custody, the office said.

CHICAGO, IL — A suspect was taken into custody after a surveillance video of a package theft was posted on Facebook. Ald. Patrick O'Connor posted the video Tuesday, and warned that packages were stolen from outside a home in Bowmanville at around 1:15 p.m. The homeowner gave the 40th Ward office the footage.
"The 20th District has stated that the individual charged was a juvenile and has been released to the custody of his parents," O'Connor wrote in a letter to constituents. "This is a great example of what can be accomplished when community members come together to work with community police."
The video shows the suspect jumping over a fence, picking up two packages at the bottom of the home's steps, and leaving.
