Suspect Using Grindr To Rob Victims In Ravenswood, Buena Park

Police are searching for a man who allegedly used the app to rob people in their apartments.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have issued a community alert for North Side residents after two home robberies. A man is using the app Grindr to target victims in their apartments, police said. The robberies happened in the city's Buena Park and Ravenswood neighborhoods, police said.

In both robberies, the man contacted victims through the app and met them at their apartments, police said. Once he was inside for a short time, he took out a knife and stole property, according to police.

The robberies took place in the following locations:

4500 Block of North Damen on Jan. 22 between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m.
4000 Block of North Kenmore on Jan. 31 at 8:45 a.m.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 30 and 35 with short brown hair, standing about 5'10 and weighing around 160 lbs.
