What the Firk? Firkin Fest

WHAT: The
masterminds behind Capacity Bar Group unveil their first ‘What the Firk? Firkin Festival’.  They have teamed up with Chicago Beer
Geeks to bring beer buffs an assortment of 25 unique firkins from renowned
local and regional breweries to sample.

What is a firkin you ask? A firkin is considered a “Real
Ale” and has not been cold-filtered, pasteurized, or carbonated by outside
equipment. The cask barrels preserve the taste in its most wholesome state,
while the interior beer harbors active yeast, meaning the flavor profile will
evolve over time. The festival is a chance for brew aficionados to savor
several varieties that have never been sipped before – and might never be
relished again!

Prior to the event, a panel of industry experts will crown two
lucky firkins with the title of “Industry Choice” and “Blogger’s Choice.” With
admission, attendees will have access to the best of the best unique brews, the
chance to meet with the top brewers, a complimentary signature souvenir pint
glass for tastings as well as a pamphlet for notes on stand-out swigs. Firkin
awesome, right?
