Young Actor Joins Cast of 'THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER!'

This holiday season Provision Theater Company’s Theater for Young Audiences will present Barbara Robinson’s ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!’ The sixty-minute, family-friendly adaptation will run November 28 – December 20 with performances on Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. at Provision Theater, 1001 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608. Special 10:00 a.m. performances will be held on December 2, 9, and 16.

Joining the cast is 7th Grade Daystar student Graceyn Dowd who will portray Narrator Beth Bradley. Graceyn’s past theater credits include ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!’ 2013-2014 season; Lampwick’s gang in ‘Pinocchio’ and most recently, Ruby Gillis in ‘Anne of Green Gables.’ Graceyn is also a participant of Provision Theater’s after-school program that trains students in the areas of acting, voice, and dance technique with a focus on performance application.

When the Herdmans (the nastiest kids in the neighborhood) decide they want to be in this year’s Christmas pageant, everyone is sure it will be a disaster. But when the curtain finally goes up, a miracle happens—making it the best ever! This hilarious and heartwarming comedy, filled with singing and music, makes a firm statement about the transformative power of the holiday season—not to mention the transformative power of theatre.

“I love this story because I think it’s familiar on one level. It’s the story of a Christmas pageant, that could and does go on in just about every church, every Christmas, every year, and that’s the charm of it,” says Timothy Gregory, Provision Theater’s Artistic Director. “But when the Herdmans—‘the worst kids in the history of the world’—get involved in the Christmas pageant, the story that we’ve all heard every year takes on new meaning. New meaning because the Herdmans have never heard the Christmas story before, and so when they hear it, the words aren’t just words, they mean something. Something fresh and profound...and funny.”

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! will be directed by Timothy Gregory. Ticket prices for ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!’ are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 & under.
