"The 39 Steps" makes a rush on Wheaton Drama

Classic Hitchcock comes to life on the stage in Wheaton

Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film thriller from the 1930s—which spans all of Great Britain and involves murder, espionage and an array of plot twists—has been adapted as a stage spoof, with four actors playing scores of roles, changing characters and accents (and hats, lots of hats) in rapid succession to hilarious effect. It’s frantic and fun and taking place at Wheaton Drama starting Friday, January 30th.

A cast of four veteran actors, Christopher Williams, Lisa Dawn Foertsch, Sean Ogren, and Anthony Mele, are led by veteran director Ken Kaden. The cast and crew have worked tirelessly to engage the audience with uproarious comedy, ingeniously-envisioned shadow puppets, and what would seem to be impromptu staging and sets.

“The 39 Steps” comes to Wheaton Drama, running January 30th through February 22nd, Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm. All performances will take place at Wheaton Drama’s Playhouse 111, located at 111 North Hale Street, Wheaton. Tickets are available by phone at 630-260-1820 or online at www.wheatondrama.org.
