5K Race, Pet Costume Contest, Wiernermobile, More Planned For WSHS Barkapalooza Rescue Fest

LISLE, IL — West Suburban Humane Society's Barkapalooza Rescue Fest will be held Sept. 27 at Lisle Community Park. A 5K run/walk race precedes the festival, which features a one-mile Waggin' Tails Walk you can do with your pets, a pet costume parade and contest, a visit from the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile, food trucks a doggie dance party and more.

Funds from the event benefit West Suburban Humane Society.

The Rescue Run 5K kicks off at 8 a.m. and the Rescue Fest grounds officially open at 9 a.m. with a Blessing of the Pets. Rescue Run Awards will be presented at 9:15 a.m. and the Waggin' Tails Walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

Live ukulele music will be performed from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed immediately by the pet costume parade and contest and Barkminster Dog Show.

Tickets to Rescue Fest are $20 per family. For $25, you get admission to Rescue Fest and one entry in the Waggin' Tails Walk. For $35, you get admission to Rescue Fest and family entry in the Waggin' Tails Walk.

Registration for the Rescue Run is $50 per person.
