LISLE, IL — The Morton Arboretum's "Green City Rising: People and Trees Thriving Together" design was recently named one of the co-winners for World Business Chicago's Horizon Lines: Visions For Chicago 2050 contest.
Close to 200 designs were submitted to the competition. That number was narrowed down to six finalists. The other winner chosen was "Wonderways!," a climate commons design concept created by MKSK.
"Green City Rising: People and Trees Thriving Together"recreates Chicago as a network of green spaces with a focus on nurturing trees to create a thriving canopy by 2050.
"It is an honor for The Morton Arboretum and our community partners to be recognized by World Business Chicago as a co-winner for 'Green City Rising,'" Arboretum President and CEO Jill Koski said.
She added, "'Green City Rising' is so much more than planting trees. It envisions Chicago thriving through people and trees."
