Benedictine University hosts Hate Crime Awareness Symposium
Benedictine University's Center for Civic Leadership will hold a Hate Crime Awareness Symposium
Benedictine University’s Center for Civic Leadership will hold a Hate Crime Awareness Symposium featuring a panel of civil rights organizations and community leaders from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 on the second floor of the Krasa Student Center at 5700 College Road in Lisle.
The event is open to the public.
Speakers will discuss the increasing rate of reported and unreported hate crimes, the media’s portrayal of relevant issues, the procedures that law enforcement officials follow and the impact of hate crimes on society. The event’s goal is to promote awareness and encourage cooperation and collaboration between different communities and groups in working toward solutions to this issue. Attorney Sadia Covert of Covert & Covert, LLC will moderate the discussion.
