Benedictine University Police to undergo inspection by ILEAP accreditation team

Community invited to comment on department's performance between 2:00-2:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 by calling (630) 829-6652 .

Lisle, Illinois ~ A team from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP), provided by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, will be on the Benedictine University campus Wednesday-Thursday, May 8-9, to inspect the Benedictine University Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services to ensure the agency continues to meet professional law enforcement standards.

Participating in the accreditation process will strengthen the agency’s relationship with the community and make the agency more accountable, according to Benedictine’s Deputy Chief of Police Paul Creekmore.

“Becoming an accredited agency will provide Benedictine Police with an opportunity to review all of its policies and procedures to ensure we continue to provide quality services to our community,” Creekmore said. “Safety is about commitment, and all of the officers demonstrate their commitment to the Benedictine community on a daily basis.

“We are extremely proud of all department members’ hard work in preparation for this assessment,” he added.

As part of the evaluation, members of the community are invited to provide their assessment of Benedictine University Police by calling the ILEAP assessment team at (630) 829-6652 between 2:00-2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. Calls will be held to no longer than 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with ILEAP standards.

Copies of the standards are available at the Benedictine University Police Department located on campus in the lower level of the parking garage.

Individuals who are unable to make telephone comments at the designated time, but wish to speak to the assessment team leader about the department and accreditation, may contact Detective Sgt. John Lawson at (630) 671-4044.
