Buckle Up, Drive Sober During 4th Of July In Lisle: Police

Lisle Police Dept. and over 150 other law enforcement officials are cracking down on impaired drivers, seat belt violators through July 8.

LISLE, IL — The Lisle Police Department is cracking down on drunk drivers and all drivers and passengers violating seatbelt laws through July 8 during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns for the 4th of July holiday. The Lisle Police Department joins the Illinois State Police and more than 150 local police and sheriff's departments for the increase statewide enforcement effort, as department officials say the holiday is an all-too-often deadly time on Illinois roads. Make sure to give your designated driver your keys being going out, and make sure everyone is buckled in.

“This Fourth of July, designate a sober driver and don’t let friends or family members drive drunk,” said Deputy Chief Wilke, in a release. Other important tips include:

  • If you are drunk or impaired by marijuana or other drugs, call a taxi, take mass transit, use your favorite ride-sharing service, or call a sober friend or family member to get you home safely.
  • Promptly report drunk drivers to law enforcement by pulling over and dialing 9-1-1.
  • Make sure everyone in your vehicle wears their seat belt. It is your best defense against an impaired driver.

The crackdown, funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Dept. of Transportation runs concurrently with a media campaign reminding motorists that impaired driving has “Life or Death” consequences.
