Celebrate Park & Recreation Month in July with #LisleParks

Month-long celebration highlights essential value of parks and recreation for local communities

Lisle, IL – Lisle Park District residents know their parks and recreation facilities provide places to get active, explore nature and connect with fellow community members. What they may not know is that their parks and recreation also contribute to improved health outcomes, higher property values and environmental sustainability.

Parks and recreation have the power to strengthen communities, transform lives and protect the future. That’s why this year, the Lisle Park District joins cities across the country in celebrating the power of parks and recreation for the 30th anniversary of Park and Recreation Month—an annual event created by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and celebrated in July since 1985.

Dan Garvy, Director of Parks and Recreation at the Lisle Park District, reiterates the importance of awareness for parks and recreation stating, “We’re excited to join this nationwide initiative to celebrate July as Park and Recreation Month. The positive impact park districts have on local communities are great and diverse, and we here in Lisle are no exception. With programs and services for people of all ages, ability levels, areas of interest and income levels, the Lisle Park District is an indispensable local resource that aims to advance the interests of health and wellness, social equity and the conservation of local and regional natural resources. We are proud to serve the Lisle Park District community and to lead charge in celebrating the tremendous benefits of parks and recreation throughout July and all year long!”
