That moment, in the desert, while Saporta was clutching his neck in pain, hallucinating that the snake was schooling him on the dancefloor, was the inception of “Cobra Starship.”

At least, that’s his story and he’s sticking to it.

Cobra Starship, a synthpop group that has created such hits as “Good Girls Gone Bad,” “What Happens on the Dancefloor” and “You Make Me Feel” feat. Sabi, will perform at “BenBash 2012” in ’s renovated Rice Center Arena at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.

This is a great opportunity for Cobra Starship and all synthpop fans to see them perform live in an informal setting at a reasonable price.

Cobra Starship’s fourth album, “Nightshades,” debuted at number 50 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 9,000 in its first week back in August 2011. Cobra Starship played pre-show on MTV's 2011 Video Music Awards and following their performance, their single "You Make Me Feel..." reached the top 10 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 to become the group’s second top 10 hit at No. 7.

The concert is sponsored by the BenU Alumni Association, Liberty Mutual Insurance and KISS-FM 103.5.

There will be a pre-concert party hosted by KISS-FM 103.5 beginning at 5:00 p.m. Doors to the arena open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 for reserved seats, $30 for general admission and $20 for students. Tickets can be purchased at www.ben.edu/BenBash.
