Connelly to host Naperville forum on anti-heroin efforts

Senator Connelly Naperville anti-heroin forum

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The scourge of heroin addiction has beset many suburban communities in recent years, a plague State Sen. Michael Connelly (R-Wheaton) says can be combatted by educating the public about the drug’s devastating impact.

In response, the Senator is hosting a Jan. 27 community forum in Naperville to educate the public on the destructive effects of this drug. The event will be held at the Linden Oaks Outpatient Education Center at Mill Street, located at 1335 N. Mill Street from 7-9 PM.

Connelly particularly encouraged suburban area parents and teens to participate in the town hall-style event, featuring DuPage County Coroner, Dr. Rich Jorgensen and State’s Attorney, Bob Berlin. Dr. Jorgensen and Mr. Berlin will discuss the health effects of heroin, the addiction cycle of the drug, and the legal ramifications often associated with heroin use.

Dr. David Lott, the medical director of the Linden Oaks chemical dependency program, and Corey Worden, community liaison at Linden Oaks, will cover in greater detail the substance abuse epidemic beneath this growing problem, and highlight practical ideas, strategies, and efforts to curb this epidemic by attacking the issue at its core.

Walk-ins are welcome but interested participants are asked to please contact the Linden Oaks Outpatient Education Center at 630.527.6363 or visit www.edward.org/classes. Seating is limited, so RSVPs are kindly asked for.
