Connelly statement on budget address

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Michael Connelly (R-Wheaton) offered the following comments after Gov. Bruce Rauner delivered his first budget address on Feb. 18.

“Governor Rauner was given a mandate by Illinois citizens to fix Illinois’ abysmal fiscal state. I believe he has surrounded himself with a talented team of budget experts and his proposal is assesses the challenges we face. Today marks the beginning of a long process to craft the Fiscal Year 2016 budget,” Connelly said. “Governor Rauner was absolutely correct when he said, ‘now is the time to start on a responsible path to fix the years of reckless spending.’”
