Dad-Daughter Duet Lifts Spirits During IL Coronavirus Shutdown

Karl Knutson said his daughter Mia doesn't usually sing with him, but this time was special.

LISLE, IL — As Illinoisans cope with Governor J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order due to new coronavirus, a Lisle dad and his daughter lifted spirits by sharing a heartfelt duet on Facebook.

Karl Knutson told Patch his daughter Mia, 18, doesn't usually sing with him, but this time she approached him — and the request was something especially touching. Mia and Karl, who runs the local Karl Knutson Boutique Entertainment teamed up to sing John Lennon's "Imagine." Knutson's son, Josh, 16, who is behind Citrus Films, got behind the camera to capture the special moment.

Knutson shared the video to the Facebook Group "What's Happening In Naperville, IL?" with the caption, "Thought I’d share some quarantine love with my neighbors. My daughter and I singing, Imagine by John Lennon. Filmed by my son. Spread love."

Knutson, whose own industry was impacted by the shutdown, his three kids, including son Max, a drummer, have wanted to use their creativity to bring people together as they are staying home from school and other activities.

He said, "This break has really opened them up to the idea of using their skills for something useful and good. My son loves to make and edit videos and my daughter loves to sing (NEVER WITH ME) and suddenly, the idea of us all doing a song and making a video was a fun idea."
