Destination Asia Festival To Feature 3 Stages, Floating Lanterns, More

Destination Asia will be held Aug. 5 through Aug. 7 at Morton Arboretum.

LISLE, IL — Destination Asia will bring live music, creative workshops, a Japanese lantern ceremony and more to Morton Arboretum Aug. 5 through Aug. 7.

The three-day festival kicks off Aug. 5 with an opening event from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. that features Toro Nagashi, a Japanese ritual that will launch floating lanterns over Meadow Lake at 8 p.m. Arboretum visitors can watch the ceremony for free or buy a lantern for $10 to launch in honor of a loved one or to commemorate a moment.

Three stages will be set up around Meadow Lake and performances will also take place near Arbor Court and Frost Hill. The programming will showcase Asian music, art, dance and more. Art vendors will also be on hand to showcase their creations.

Destination Asia will have food trucks on hand, so visitors can refuel throughout the event.
