Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Kills Pedestrian In Lisle

Brandeis DeBroeck, 26, of Lisle, was killed when a car struck her as she crossed Maple Ave. Two other vehicles then crashed.

LISLE, IL— Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that left a pedestrian dead in Lisle Friday. Brandeis C. DeBroeck, 26, was crossing Maple Avenue at the intersection of Benedectine Parkway when she was struck by a motor vehicle. DeBroeck was rushed to the Edward Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Two other vehicles were later unable to stop their cars and collided into the car that had hit DeBroeck.

According to police, DeBroeck was crossing from north to south when witnesses say a vehicle in the far eastbound lane hit her. The vehicle's driver, a 69-year-old woman from Naperville, told police she did not see DeBroeck until the collision was taking place.

After the accident, traffic was closed for approximately three hours as the Felony Investigation Assistance Team (FIAT) and Major Crash Reconstruction Team (MCRT) attempted to reconstruct the accident.

Police say that eyewitnesses told them that east-west traffic had a green signal at the time of the crash. Currently, no citations have been issued in connection with the fatal accident.
