GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A Glendale Heights man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend in 2016. Henry Morales, 31, has been held in custody on $1 million bond since the incident took place in unincorporated West Chicago.

Just before 2 a.m. on March 22, 2016, Morales broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend while wielding a large knife. Morales then sexually assaulted her at knifepoint, according to authorities, and was arrested the next day.

At the sentencing hearing, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "This morning, Henry Morales admitted that he broke into his former girlfriend’s home in the middle of the night while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her. His admission of guilt however, does nothing to restore the feeling of safety and security that a home provides and that was once enjoyed by his victim. He violated the sanctity of her home, he violated her and for this he will spend a significant amount of time behind bars."
