Incoming freshmen could earn scholarships to join BenU PEP Band
Incoming freshmen who can play an instrument could receive a $2,000 scholarship for playing in the Benedictine University PEP Band.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must audition and be a freshman. The scholarship is renewable through the student’s senior year. Twelve PEP Band scholarships are available for the 2015-16 school year.
Benedictine’s PEP Band was established about five years ago as part of the school’s spirit program. As an extracurricular activity, membership in the PEP Band does not qualify for academic credit. The PEP Band is conducted by Patrick Infusino, a lecturer at the University.
Student musicians who do not qualify for the scholarship can still apply to be a PEP Band member and will be paid an hourly wage. All funds will be transferred into student accounts at the end of the season. Students do not need to be music majors to qualify for this scholarship.
Other scholarships are available through the University’s music program. Music majors qualify for a $4,000 annual scholarship, while $2,000 is available for students who minor in music.
