See how Normandy Remodeling transformed this kitchen.

This Lisle kitchen was renovated to create a more open floor plan, which is an increasing trend in the Chicagoland area.  The renovation was so well designed and executed, it earned a First Place 2011 Remodeling Excellence Award from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Greater Chicagoland.

Normandy Designer Gary Cerek worked with the clients to open up the kitchen through a small addition and the removal of an interior partition, flawlessly connecting it to the living room.  The addition allowed for a gorgeous bank of windows incorporating an elliptical window on top, letting in natural daylight as well as fully capturing a spectacular view of their backyard.

The clients went with a traditional style, and selected colors that lightened up the space as a whole to complement the natural light coming in.

“The clients were very interested in making the most of the entire space,” says Cerek, “And we did so in creative ways throughout, even the pilasters on either side of the stove are pull out spice racks.”

A custom built hood incorporating decorative corbels and a simple ceramic subway tile with brown glazed tiles created an appealing focal point for the kitchen.  As a finishing touch, with the newly increased space the clients wanted a floor that was out of the ordinary and chose a beautifully rich looking, wide plank Brazilian Cherry that added a unique element to the traditional space.
