Lisle, IL – Despite Lisle Park District facilities being closed in accordance with the state guidelines to suppressing COVID-19, both the preschool and fitness center are making sure their patrons get the most out of their shelter-in-place orders.

Gentle Learning Preschool (1925 Ohio St., Lisle) started a remote learning program on April 6, with the intention of keeping preschoolers on track during the facility closure. At-home instruction and content has been created, continuing to build on the skills and units preschoolers have been working on during the last several months of classroom instruction.

The remote curriculum is a fun blend of formats, including phonics, literacy, math, art, songs, science, and other engaging activities. Each week, registrants receive a packet of materials necessary for the week’s unit of learning, including instructions, materials list, links to related read-a-loud books, printable pages, and more. Students also participate in at least two live group video lessons each week with Gentle Learning Preschool Coordinator, Mrs. Jehs. To learn more about the program and to register online, visit gentlelearningpreschool.org.

In addition to the virtual preschool classroom, Community Park Fitness (1825 Short St., Lisle) has also opened their virtual doors. Typically, the park district and Community Park Fitness offer a variety of GroupX fitness classes, including yoga, Zumba, senior fitness, and more. While currently closed, participants of some of these classes are invited to register to continue their workout routine at-home, with virtual instruction. Class instructors will be using Zoom, an online meeting tool, to conduct workouts with their students from their homes.
