Lisle Police Offer Free Self-Defense Workshops

The self-defense classes will be open to students grades 1 through 5 and beginner and advanced adults.

LISLE, IL — The Lisle Police Department is offering a set of self-defense workshops for free for residents. A Jan. 24 session will be geared toward students in grades 1 through 5. Two adult self-defense workshops will be offered on Jan. 25 for beginner and advanced students.

The workshops, taught by One Light Self-Defense, will teach residents offensive techniques and defensive techniques to evade grabs, bear hugs, choke holds, and hair pulls. Those who attend the classes will also learn ways to avoid an attack and ways to improve safety through awareness.

The student workshop will be held on Jan. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The beginner adult workshop is set for Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the advanced adult workshop is scheduled for Jan. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. To attend the advanced adult workshop, you must have attended a beginner workshop in the past.
