Lisle Senior High School Celebrates Honors Night
Parents and school staff recognized many of this year's outstanding seniors, as well as underclassmen.
On May 18, LSHS celebrated students with awards and honors for achievements during the 2010 – 2011 school year. The evening began with a performance by the LSHS choir.
Principal Pete M. Sullivan presented the top citizenship awards to seniors Grant Fitzgerald, Sons of the American Revolution Award and Stephanie Petkovsek Daughters of the American Revolution Award and “I Care” Award.
Sixty community organizations presented scholarships, including the Lisle Women’s Club Jim Bonfield Memorial, N. Tracy Walker Euclid Lodge #65, Kiwanis Club, Grove Lodge #824 Ancient Free and Accepted Mason, Lisle Chamber of Commerce, Lisle Chapter of Character Counts, Lisle Community Service Corporation, Rotary Club, Lion’s Club, Petroleum Club, Medford Abernathy Memorial, Lisle Education Association and Lisle Home and School Organization. guidance counselors Karin Irvine and Kendra Meyer presented these awards.

Parents and faculty of District 202 are encouraged to join The Lisle Home and School Organization. The money and support of H.S.O. help to enhance the educational experience of each child in the district. Market Day sales and the annual flower sale fund the scholarships. This year H.S.O. was able to award 15 scholarships of $733 each to the following graduates: Najid Ali, Emily Fiedler, Grant Fitzgerald, Skya Gentle, Reginald Jansen, Jacob Tarasewicz, Vanessa Del Real, Stephanie Petkovsek, Emmanuel Jackson, Tyler Hills, Tijana Popovic, Syeda Quadri, Michael Swartz, Daniel Young and Caeligh McCarthy.
The counselors also presented students with scholarships from individual colleges and universities. Forty graduating seniors received financial rewards ranging from $500 to $15,000; many are renewable for four years.

Though graduating seniors are the headliners of the program, there are awards given to underclassman in the following areas: Art Honor Society, Science, Spanish Honor Society, Math, Scholastic Bowl and Student Congress. THe program closed with the announcement of honor roll, Prairie State Achievement, Illinois State Scholars and National Merit Scholar recipients.
