LJHS and LSHS Teams Trump Opponents In Regional Meets

This week we're giving a shout-out to three clubs at LJHS and LSHS.

We couldn't award the Whiz Kid nomination to a sole individual this week. Students in academic clubs at LJHS and LSHS have been making great strides in regional tournaments recently. Congratulations to:

  • The high school’s math team made several strides at the regional math competition at North Central College. The junior Algebra II team (Robbie Dean, Jake Haseltine, Ty Howell, Samantha Mocarski, Dylan Sinn, and Ryan Twaddl) took second place and the freshman-sophomore eight-person team) took third place.  The junior/senior two-person team of Neal Kfoury and Mike Swartz took second place.
Individually, Mike Swartz won first place overall in the Pre-Calculus written competition and Dylan Sinn won fourth place overall in the Algebra II written competition.
  • The high school’s Scholastic Bowl team placed first at the Masonic state meet, as well as capturing I-8 Conference and regional championship accolades.
  • The junior high’s Science Olympiad Team placed seventh in the state regional competition, and will proceed to state.
