UPDATED: LSHS' Buchelt, Early Commit to College Play

Two seniors are heading to the big leagues, according to LSHS softball coach Jen Pomatto.

After announcements of their intentions early this year, Mackenzie Buchelt signed a commitment to Valparaiso University and Melanie Early signed a commitment to attend Judson University on Wednesday morning.

The varsity softball team ended with a 27-6 record for the 2011 season.

Buchelt is also a third baseman for the White Sox 18U fastpitch team. She is one of 10 team members to sign letters of intent.

“The fastpitch softball travel team program at the Bulls/Sox Academy is extremely proud of the achievements of these eleven tremendous student-athletes. They each epitomize the young women in our program and are all beginning to walk the path that every summer travel team player wants to achieve,” said Director of Fastpitch Operations Kathy Young in a release by the . “We wish them future success as they continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.”
