Max Martial Arts Donates 200 Masks To Lisle Police, Firefighters
"We hope this donation will help them to keep on providing great service and protect themselves and their families."

LISLE, IL — Like many businesses in Lisle, Max Martial Arts was hit hard by the coronavirus shutdown, but the martial arts school is doing its part to give back, one mask at a time. The school recently donated 200 masks to the Lisle Police Department and Lisle-Woodridge Fire Department.
"We weren’t trying to make any huge difference, rather wanted to give back to our officers who always provide us a great service all time," Jinah Park, head manager at Max Martial Arts told Patch. Park added, "We hope this donation will help them to keep on providing great service and protect themselves and their families."
Park said the school started the mask fund as it faced its own set of challenges during the pandemic. At the start of the coronavirus crisis, classes could no longer be held in person, Park said, adding that some students had to leave due to financial hardships.

Park told Patch Max Martial arts was able to phase into a "soft opening," allowing students to take in-person classes with certain guidelines in place and permitting other students to stay in online classes if they preferred.
Still, there are challenges with teaching classes online, according to Park. "It hurts to see a lot of students struggling with a lot of online classes," Park said.

Park added, "We hope this slow transition will give energy to our parents and students. We look forward to seeing a lot of students going back to the normal healthy life that they deserve."
