The fiberglass statue is meant to honor Foster District Officer Myles Smetana who died in 1999 and was damaged last weekend and again on Monday when a family knocked it over while leaning against it for a photo, according to the newspaper.
The horse statue is sponsored by Wendella Boats. There are dozens of Horses of Honor public art displays located throughout the city of Chicago that are meant to honor police officers that were killed in the line of duty.
