The Neuqua Valley Wildcats defeated the Redwings 1-0 during the second round match-up of the Best of the West Tournament.
Kevin Skrip of Neuqua scored with 36 minutes to play in the second half. Skrip scored on a long ball played from the back. Both Skrip and Benet goalie, Kyle Dal Santo, made a hard charge for the 50/50 ball resulting in a collision. The ball popped up toward the goal, favoring the momentum of Skrip.
Benet had two shots on goal both by Brad Bozych. Neuqua goalie, Hunter Hollingshed, made a diving save on an early shot in the second half by Bozych. Hollingshed registered one more save for the day and junior Kyle Dal Santo had four quality saves for the Redwings.
Benet continues to struggle with putting shots on goal. Coach Sean Wesley remains optimistic, but admits that the team has had some difficulty pulling together the new offensive strategy.
Benet's current season record is 2-2.
