On April 17, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m., Family Shelter Service will hold its annual gala at The Abbington, Route 53 and Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. The theme “The Secret Garden: A Celebration of Hope,” resonates with the promise of renewal, growth and peace for the clients of Family Shelter Service -- people in our community affected by domestic violence. “The Secret Garden” promises to be a magical evening rich with entertainment, music, dancing, raffles, and silent and live auctions. Supporters will take an active part in inspiring change for so many in our community. The gala is Family Shelter’s largest fundraiser of the year and a critical funding source for providing shelter, counseling and court advocacy for the 2,000 women and children the organization serves each year. Supporters will be able to bid on a wide variety of trips, sports tickets, assorted gift baskets and other items through the silent and live auctions.
