St. Joan of Arc Receives National Recognition

SJA Junior High Teacher Receives National Science Award (Lisle)- St. Joan of Arc is pleased to announce that JR High science teacher, Tanya Anderson was selected as the 2015 Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year. The award is presented by the United State Air Force and compliments outstanding leadership in aerospace education the classroom. This past year, Ms. Anderson was also part of a team that was instrumental in SJA being chosen as one of only seven (7) schools in the United States selected by Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) — a partnership between NASA, the ARRL and the Radio Amateur Satellite Corp. — to obtain actual radio time with the International Space Station crew while in orbit. St. Joan was able to establish a connection with astronauts last September for over five minutes. An awards ceremony will be held in Orlando, FL in late August to present Ms. Anderson with her prestigious award. St.. Joan of Arc's Church and School administrators are very proud.
