'Suspicious' SUV Approaches Boy In Lisle: Police

Lisle Police Dept. officials are asking community members to remain alert after a couple approached a child in their SUV on May 2.

LISLE, IL — Lisle Police Department officers are asking community members to be alert after a suspected child luring incident Wednesday. Officers say they were called to investigate a suspicious incident in the 2600 Block of Old Tavern Road around 6 p.m. May 2, when witnesses say a 7-year-old boy was in a driveway when two people in an SUV pulled up and started talking to him.

According to police, the boy's father saw the conversation and called the boy to the house to see what happened. The boy reported that a male and female asked if he needed a ride before driving away from the area.

The SUV is being described as a red Subaru, police say, adding that the male and female inside it are said to be a white duo in their 50s.

After speaking to witnesses and investigating the incident, police say there haven't been any similar events reported in the area and it appears the driver and passenger were concerned about the boy's well being.

While officers say the pair did not commit a crime, they're asking everyone to remain vigilant as they can never be too safe regarding incidents like this one.

In a post on the Lisle Police Department Facebook page, officers are asking community members to call 911 if they see a vehicle matching this description in the area or any other suspicious behavior.
