1 Found Dead Inside Aroma Park Home Damaged By Tornado: Sheriff
The person was found Thursday afternoon, the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office said.
KANKAKEE COUNTY, IL — One person has been found dead inside a damaged home after an EF-3 tornado tore through Aroma Park earlier this week, the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office said. The discovery brings the death toll to three from Tuesday's tornadoes that swept through parts of Illinois and northwest Indiana.
The person was found Thursday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Their identity has not been released. The location of the home has not been disclosed.
The EF-3 tornado, with winds of up to 150 mph, touched down Tuesday night and caused widespread damage. The tornado tracked from just west of Aroma Park to Lake Village, Indiana, before ending near DeMotte, Indiana.

"At approximately 4:24 p.m. this afternoon, sheriff’s deputies were notified about a possible deceased individual who appears to have been a victim from the tornado damage on Tuesday night," the Sheriff's Office said. "Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner arrived on scene and confirmed the death. The individual was located inside of a damaged residence in Aroma Park."
The Kankakee County Coroner‘s Office and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office are working together to notify next of kin.

The death is the first reported in Illinois in connection with Tuesday’s tornado in Kankakee County. Previously, nine people were reported injured.
An elderly couple was killed in Lake Village, Indiana, as the same tornado tracked into Indiana.
Gov. JB Pritzker on Thursday night shared condolences for the victim's family.
"Saddened to share that in the recovery efforts in Kankakee County local officials have now learned of one casualty," Pritzker posted on social media. "My heart breaks for this individual’s family and the whole community. May their memory be a blessing."
2 Killed In Indiana
The two people killed in Lake Village, Indiana, were identified by the Newton County Coroner's Office as Edward Kozlowski, 89, and Arlene Kozlowski, 84.
Newton County Sheriff Shannon Cothran and Lake Township Volunteer Fire Chief Rob Churchill posted videos on social media, warning residents to avoid the area and stressing the severity of the damage.
Several other people were "very injured," Newton County authorities said Wednesday, with Churchill describing "total devastation"and people were trapped in collapsed homes, Fox 32 reported.
According to the National Weather serivce, the tornadoes that hit northwest Indiana came from the same supercell that tracked from Pontiac, Illinois, through Kankakee County before moving into northwest Indiana.
