Woman, 65, Killed in Crash with Semi, Car In Manhattan: Sheriff
The driver of a car that was involved in a crash with a semi early Thursday morning was pronounced dead at the scene.

MANHATTAN, IL —A 65-year-old woman died Thursday morning when the car she was driving was struck by a semi truck in Manhattan, officials said. Authorities Thursday afternoon said it appears the woman ignored a stop sign moments before the crash.
The crash happened just after 8 a.m., at Cedar and Wilmington-Peotone roads. The driver of the car was dead at the scene, Manhattan Fire Chief Steve Malone said.
Will County Sheriff's police said the woman was driving southbound on Cedar Road in a 2017 Ford hatchback, when she failed to stop for oncoming traffic. A semi headed westbound on Wilmington-Peotone Road struck the car on the driver's side as it entered the intersection. The driver of the semi attempted to avoid the car, but was unsuccessful, the sheriff's office said. There is not a stop sign on Wilmington-Peotone Road at that intersection.
