2 Killed When Car Goes Off Road in Manhattan

Two men from Manhattan were killed when a vehicle went off the road late Friday night.

David J. Alberts, 36 and Brian Cadore, 31 - both of Manhattan - were in the same car around 11 p.m. when it went off U.S. 52 near Cedar Road, according to a Daily Southtown report.

Cadore, the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. Alberts, the driver, was pronounced shortly after being taken to Silver Cross Hospital.

Both men were eulogized via several messages on social media on Saturday.

Alberts was described as a "genuinely a good easy going guy. who I personally never heard a negative word about" and Cadore as a man with "uncanny laughter and wisdom."

A fundraiser to raise money for the Cadore family has begun via YouCaring. He was an alum of Marist High School in Chicago and later Saint Louis University.

The cause and manner of death for both victims is pending a toxicology report and police investigation.

Manhattan Police Chief Joseph Wazny said the Illinois State Police are handling the investigation of the crash, which occurred in an unincorporated area of Will County.
